Mr. Richard Park is Executive Director of Projects and responsible for leading the development of several high profile energy projects within Alpha Group’s portfolio. Prior to joining Alpha Group, Mr. Park was Project Director for Gas Cities ltd– a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and UAE publicly listed corporation Dana Gas– focusing on development of gas-centric industrial parks in the MENA region. He was also with Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation as Business Development Director for the $25 billion usd Barakah 5400 MW nuclear project in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Before coming to UAE, Mr. Park ran his own boutique energy consulting firm in association with Charles River Associates (CRA) offices in Hong Kong/Seoul. He has advised and represented major IOCs, US energy companies, and local companies on addressing strategic and shareholder issues. He is well versed on resolving joint venture challenges and has deep insights gained from working over the entire value chain of large and complex energy projects. In addition, Mr. Park has worked in Southeast Asia on power project development and over seven years in the US electric industry.
Mr. Park was also the country manager for El Paso and managing director for an 1800 MW gas-fired CCGT in Korea. Other companies that Mr. Park has worked in various roles include Exelon, Chevron, and Enron.
Mr. Park holds an MBA from Booth School of Business and BS in Nuclear Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
